Modern fleet of own minibuses!

For the comfort of our clients we use our modern minibuses Mercedes Sprinter and VV Crafter (they are almost identical) which have been a clear step ahead of its class, especially in terms of safety. The trip to Chernobyl covers over 330 km on the roads which are not the best. That’s why we at SoloEast pay lots of attention to our drivers training and maintaining our vehicles in the excellent technical condition. All our minibuses meet European standards for the passenger transportation including dual wheel rear axle. All vehicles are air-conditioned and equipped with the seat belts, wifi routers and USB charges for the passengers. The speed and location is controlled via our GPS monitoring system to make sure our guests have a safe and pleasant ride along the route.

Information for those who are going on a two (or more) day tour.

If your tour includes overnight stay in the zone, we usually accommodate in one of the hotels - "Pripyat"(2), "Polissya"(3) or "Rektan (Desyatka)"(1). All three hotels are quite old. Rektan is a bit better but we have next to no control on accommodations inside the zone. Since all three hotels have no stars *- you can expect a typical soviet era attitude from the personal (along with clean sheets though). Please be aware that meals in the zone are basic - just a source of carbs and protein. Those with special meal requirements can bring their own food. People who like more comfort can stay in our privately owned cottage with air-conditioned rooms only 5 min from the first check point. You can either cook your own meals or order meals from our house keeper.

Chernobyl canteen

The meals inside the Exclusion zone is offered in two main canteens - one is located in Chernobyl town in “Desyatka hotel” and the second one is canteen #19, located near the Chernobyl Power Plant.
All food supply is from outside of the Exclusion zone (in accordance with the Ukrainian regulations). SoloEast Travel has no financial interest in providing meals to the visitors of the Exclusion zone. SoloEast can’t control food preparation or guarantee the availability of certain meal options. According to the 90% of the visitors their experience with the Chernobyl Zone dining was either great or good.

Flexibility in our itinerary

For our 2-day Chernobyl tour we limit the group size to maximum 12 participants! This gives us great flexibility in our itinerary and we can adjust our tour depending on the group interests. IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE than a tour of the reactor site, SoloEast can assist you with professional development programs, tertiary level education modules or special interest programs to whatever standard and with whatever content you require. We can work within your time frame and your budget.

Do you need a Geiger counter?*

Personal radiation dosimeters and Geiger counters are two different things. PRD are provided by authorities to measure the radiation exposed to an individual during the tour (they are mandatory and included into the cost). But the data from those dosimeters can be read on a special equipment (there is no gauge or display). While Geiger counters show actual levels of radiation on a digital display in micro sieverts (they are optional and cost $8 per day).

Dron (UAV) Use Permission

You have a unique opportunity to capture a bird's eye view of the exclusion zone. During a multi day tour (even group two-day tour), we have enough time to ride, walk and fly. There are places with the flight restrictions (e.g. over the nuclear facilities) but most of the locations it's OK to fly. We would need your drone model and number to get the permit.
